Met Life – Concept Animations by Matt HooverNote: On all concepts, clicking the banner will invoke the end frame lockup. Text animations are using simple fades (for now). 970x250 - A: 1) Only the rings rotate (individual petals do not move with respect to each other) 2) In zoomed view the inner ring is in "overlay" blend mode(so as to not occlude the image reveal) 970x250 - B: 1) Like "A", but the inner rings fade out when in zoomed view (so as to not occlude the image reveal). They return in zoom-out for the lockup. 970x250 - C: 1) More elastic effect on intro petals. 2) Rings rotate along with individual rotations for each petal. 3) Right now the image is not unmasked with precision, but can be if this movement is desired. By allowing individual petals to rotate independently, the "opening" that reveals the image on each side can be fine tuned. 970x250 - A2: 1) Continuation of concept A 2) The Inner Petals now grow when the logo zooms, so that you don't see their outer edges (ie, they are the same size as a the outer ring. 970x250 - D: 1) Continuation of concept A 2) Petals have shading in the zoomed mode, giving some dimension to them. This shading disappears when logo is zoomed out. 3) Speed of rotation has been adjusted to be a bit slower in the fast mode 4) The logo doesn't start to spin until it's zoomed (to reduce "combo lock" effect) 5) If this example runs too slowly try using Chrome instead of Safari. 970x250 - E: 1) Exploration of breaking apart the ring based on existing "puzzle" color shapes - every other shape along the ring is separated so that there are two groups. These two groups rotate opposite of each other. 2) Problems with this approach is that there aren't enough shapes to form an opaque "base" layer that another set of colors can layer on top of to create secondary colors. If the top layer is set to "overlay" mode as with the other examples here, there are large areas of white because it doesn't show up unless it's layered over another color. In this example, then, both layers must be set to "darken" in order to be visible. But the secondary colors aren't very good, and the gaps are too large, IMO. It's also much harder to unmask the image cleanly since the petals are not as wide as in other examples. 3) This version also "stops" for a beat before reversing direction the first time. 970x250 - F: 1) Based on concept D, this version shows an alternate way for the ring to build initially. When the second ring enters, it's already in the "overlay" blend mode. The entire ring set also zooms in / out faster than before. 970x250 - F2: 1) Based on concept F, this version has a slightly different draw-in method for the ring pieces – in this case they are longer than in F. |
